The Division of Plastic Surgery at the University of Rochester Medical
Center seeks to recruit a full-time academic plastic surgeon at the assistant, associate
or full professor level with a focus on gender affirmation surgery. Gender
affirmation surgery fellowship training or extensive clinical experience preferred.
Selected individuals will be expected to participate in clinical care,
teaching, research and university service. Applicants for this position must be
board certified or board eligible in Plastic Surgery. Salary and level of appointment will be based
upon experience and qualifications.
Opportunity exists to join an
established multidisciplinary gender team including medical providers, mental
health experts, urologists, gynecologists, and plastic surgery faculty. Comprehensive
gender surgery opportunities exist depending on clinical expertise and
interest. Additional clinical opportunities for a balanced practice include
general reconstruction, microsurgery, and aesthetic surgery/body contouring.
The University of Rochester is located in Rochester, New York and is
surrounded by world class culture, affordable housing and nationally ranked
public schools. The City of Rochester
is a mecca for the arts: home to a philharmonic orchestra, wonderful museums including
the Strong National Museum of Play, internationally recognized dance companies
as well as The Eastman School of Music. The Rochester International Jazz
Festival is one of the top 10 Jazz festivals in the nation. The region boasts
access to great watersports both on Lake Ontario as well as the Finger Lakes.
The Finger Lakes region is also home to many internationally known
wineries. Rochester has a rich history
and was the last step on the underground railroad and the place Frederick
Douglas called home. It is also the
location of the Susan B. Anthony House making Rochester the epicenter of the
woman’s suffrage movement.
Candidates must have completed medical school receiving an MD or
equivalent. Gender affirmation surgery
fellowship training or extensive clinical experience preferred. Applicants for this position must be board
certified or board eligible in Plastic Surgery.
Must be eligible for a NYS medical license.
