Academic Plastic Surgery Opportunity with Thomas Jefferson University in PhiladelphiaPosted: 3/26/2024

Thomas Jefferson University Health System (TJUH) and the Sidney Kimmel Medical College in Philadelphia is seeking a Plastic Surgeon at the associate, assistant or professor rank to join our Plastic Surgery Division, in the Department of Surgery. The successful candidate will join an established plastic surgery team of three physicians and a nurse practitioner that works collaboratively with peers and other multidisciplinary providers, advanced practitioners and specialty staff (licensed and non-licensed). The candidate must have excellent communication skills with a focus on patient access and patient satisfaction. Microsurgery experience or fellowship training is ideal but not essential.  The position also offers the opportunity to join a thriving academic, clinical and research department that provides exceptional patient care and innovation throughout the region. 

Job Description:

  • Provide a broad range of services including general plastic surgery, cosmetic surgery (body contouring, breast augmentation, breast lift, abdominoplasty, face lift, liposuction, eyelid lift, brow lift), breast reconstruction, and cancer/trauma reconstruction.
  • Active involvement in the education of surgery residents.  Participation in teaching, research, and program development.
  • Benefit from an established reconstructive and cosmetic referral base, generated from internal, external/private practice physicians and surgeons
  • Research or scholarship responsibilities may include clinical and/or basic science investigations in the field of plastic surgery
  • Fully integrated Electronic Health Record (EHR) – EPIC
  • Highly competitive base salary with incentive plan

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
  • Board eligible/certified in Plastic Surgery.
  • The ability to obtain a medical license in the Commonwealth of PA prior to start date.      
  • Candidates must have a record of providing excellent clinical care, possess academic credentials that will qualify for an academic appointment in department of surgery. 

Jefferson Plastic Surgery is located at the corner of 9th and Walnut Streets in Center City, Philadelphia on the 15th floor of the Wills Eye Hospital Building.  Our 10,000 square foot office has eight exam suites as well as a full service aesthetician suite.  All major surgeries are performed at TJUH, smaller procedures with local anesthesia such as scar revision and excisions of skin lesion can be performed in the office.
