Migraine headaches (MH) affect morethan 35 million Americans, with a lifetimerisk of 43 percent in women and18 percent in men. The condition is describedas “chronic” (15 or more headaches per month,with less than 15 per month classified as “episodic”)involving moderate to severe pulsating orthrobbing pain in the head, face or neck; oftenunilateral; sometimes associated with nauseaand/or sensitivity to light and sounds; and aggravatedby routine physical activity. If not treated,MH can become debilitating.
