The Plastic Surgery The Meeting 2024 is intended for plastic surgeons, residents and para-medical professionals interested in translating expanded knowledge into practice for the improvement of patient outcomes in plastic and reconstructive surgery.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to do the following:
- Understand that several surgical options exist for bilateral nipple sparing mastectomy and autologous breast reconstruction in patients with ptotic breasts
- Recognize, that when safe to do so, superior pedicle mastopexy performed at the same time as direct to implant reconstruction can be a great way to manage the ptotic breast and limit the total number of surgical procedures in an era of difficult preauthorizations and declining reimbursement
- Comprehend that patients with preoperative breast ptosis may be candidates for immediate reconstruction with concurrent nipple-sparing mastopexy, maintaining the nipple areolar complex on an inferiorly based adipodermal pedicle
- Understand that wise-pattern mastectomy with inferior autoderm sling is a safe, effective and cost-conscious way for immediate breast reconstruction in women with obesity, macromastia and ptosis
- Recognize the importance of considering the support requirements when performing pre pectoral nipple sparring mastectomy and breast reconstruction in a ptotic nipple patient
