Maximal knowledge of abdominoplasties allows for proper prospective patient education, surgery preparation and technique choice, as well as optimal medical and aesthetic outcomes.

• ASPS SNIPS Module: Massive Weight Loss Patients
  
  This SNIP addresses the following questions: a) What are the risks of DVT and PE in massive weight loss patients? b) What nutritional issues can be optimized prior to surgery to ensure maximal wound healing? c) What criteria do insurance companies use to determine medical necessity for panniculectomy? d) When should a patient be counselled for a belt lipectomy versus an abdominoplasty? e) When is a Fleur-de-Lis Procedure preferred over an abdominoplasty?

• ASPS SNIPS Module: Understanding Common Complications of Abdominoplasty

Understanding and addressing common complications of abdominoplasty. This course will provide information on delayed wound healing, wound dehiscence, post-abdominoplasty seroma formation, and pre-disposing risk factors to DVT and PE.

• ASPS SNIPS Module: Pre-Operative Planning
  
  This course discusses pertinent pre-operative planning protocol for plastic surgeons performing abdominoplasty. It will focus on the modified float tummy tuck, techniques for improving blood supply, reducing tension on abdominal flap closure, the use of progressive tension sutures and discontinuous undermining.
  
  
• ASPS SNIPS Module: Identification and Management of Post-Operative Infection
  
  This SNIP covers the differential diagnosis of post-operative fever from the immediate, early, to the late post-operative period. It highlights the timeline for fever, differential diagnosis, major concerns, work-up, and treatment principles. This is a rubric for thoroughly evaluating the likely etiology of fever and successfully treating both infectious and non-infectious causes.
