Fellowship
The
fellowship
is
a
1
year
training
program
starting
7/1/2020.
This
program
has
unified
head
and
neck
and
plastic
surgeons
into
one
department.
The
staff
consists
of
4
plastic
and
6
head
and
neck
full-time
surgeons.
The
fellow
will
have
a
rare
opportunity
to
learn
and
experience
a
wide
breadth
of
reconstructive
surgery.
You
will
receive
a
1
week
training
in
the
animal
laboratory
to
be
proficient
in
microsurgical
anastomosis.
The
training
involves
ablative
surgery
of
the
head
and
neck
and
reconstructive
surgery
of
the
head,
neck
and
breast.
You
will
be
proficient
in
local
flaps,
pedicle
flaps,
and
free
flaps:
DIEP,
fibula,
latissimus,
parascapular,
radial
forearm,
etc.
There
is
a
weekly
educational
conference
and
tumor
board.
The
fellow
will
participate
in
conferences
and
resident
and
medical
student
education.
When
the
fellow
has
completed
the
program
you
will
be
comfortable
doing
ablative
and
reconstructive
surgery.
This
fellowship
is
ideal
for
general
surgery
or
ENT
resident
transitioning
to
a
plastic
surgery
fellowship
or
any
specialty
that
wants
to
do
advanced
surgical
training
in
the
head
and
neck
region.
Applicants
must
have
completed
a
general
surgery,
ear
nose
and
throat
or
plastic
surgery
residency
prior
to
start
date.
Applicant
must
be
eligible
to
obtain
a
New
York
state
medical
and
Federal
DEA
licenses.
These
licenses
need
to
be
acquired
before
the
start
date.
