Boston, MA

Boston Medical Center (BMC) and Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine (BUCASM) are jointly recruiting a board-certified/board-eligible plastic surgeon to join the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. The ideal candidate must have a strong background in microsurgery and interest in microsurgical breast reconstruction, lower extremity reconstruction, and reconstruction of complex defects. However, this position encompasses the full spectrum of plastic surgery including breast surgery and post-bariatric body contouring.

In addition to providing expert patient care using the latest treatments and technologies, the division places a high priority on the training and development of general surgery residents, the education of medical students, and on improving care through research. The successful candidate will have strong clinical credentials, a collaborative approach to patient care, and a commitment to teaching.

The selected candidate will be an additional faculty member to the current four surgeons and five advanced practice clinicians.

BMC is a 514-bed academic medical center located in Boston’s historic South End. The largest safety-net hospital in New England, BMC provides consistently excellent and accessible health care to all. BMC is also the primary teaching affiliate of BUCASM, a highly ranked medical school dedicated to urban and international health and recognized as a leader in groundbreaking medical research. BMC is the second largest recipient of NIH grant funding of all safety-net hospitals in the country. The Department of Surgery has a significant record of clinical, outcomes, translational, and basic research activity.

BMC and BUCASM are committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive workforce. Candidates who can contribute to this goal through their research, teaching, and/or service are encouraged to apply. Applicants may include a brief diversity statement in their cover letter or curriculum vitae if they so choose.

Candidates should forward a letter of interest and CV to Maureen Demmert via email: Maureen.Demmert@bmc.org. Please include Plastic Surgeon in the subject line.
