The
Department of Surgery at Upstate Medical University and Upstate Cancer Center is
recruiting an academic plastic surgeon with expertise in microvascular surgery
to support autologous breast reconstruction as well as the reconstructive surgery
needs of multiple clinical programs. Upstate
Medical University is a two-campus 715 bed multidisciplinary, academic medical center
which serves as the tertiary care
referral center for Syracuse and the Central New York region. The plastic surgery practice supports a busy
cancer center with over 200 breast reconstruction cases a year, a busy Level
1 Trauma Center with needs for soft tissue coverage of extremity injuries and hand
call, an ABA verified Burn Center, and a regional Hernia Center.
The Department of Surgery is
committed to recruiting high-quality faculty to provide state of the art
surgical services for the patients of Central New York in a collaborative
academic environment. Board-eligibility and/or certification in Plastic
Surgery, microsurgery fellowship training as well as clinical expertise in general
plastic and reconstructive surgery is required. Teaching medical students,
training surgery residents and mentoring junior faculty is an integral part of
the job. Academic appointment will be commensurate with the candidate’s
academic record.
