Injections just dont work

Hi, I have tried several lip fillers/injections and nothing seems to stick. The results last never more than a week no water what cocktail of fillers are used. I would like to augment my lips but is not possible in Canada. Any suggestions on something more permanent and at what price? Thanks!

Procedure: Lip Augmentation/Enhancement

Permanent options for lip augmentation include permanent collagen (is very reasonable if you like the result of non-permanent fillers), fat grafting (somewhat comparable to permanent collagen), Gore-tex, silicone, and acellular dermal matrix. There are other options which I think are less common, although plastic surgeons from other regions might be able to comment on materials they have used.

I recommend staying away from permanent collagen and fat grafting since you haven't obtained the results you desire with fillers; should this change, you may consider these in the future. I also highly recommend you see another surgeon, specifically a board certified plastic surgeon, for consultation with fillers. Your lack of results could be due to technique.

I personally recommend silicone implants, as they are very easy to implant (but not without risks) and very easy to remove. You cannot feasibly remove permanent collagen or fat graft.

Costs vary. Implant surgery is ~$5000, roughly.

Thank you for sharing your excellent question. Recommendations will depend on an in-person examination of your lips and what your anticipated goals are. Options include trying different fillers from different HA lines, lip lift, or fat grafting. There are also solid silicone implants that can be used. Talk to an ASPS board certified plastic surgeon to discuss your concerns and have a full timeline of treatments you've received to this point. Hope this helps.

Consider using lip implants (if approved by your government) as they provide instant results, costs less than any filler or fat grafting in the long run, and you can remove them if you don't like it.

There are permanent fillers that can be used. Your best bet is to contact a local Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, and they can come up with the best option for you.

Thank you for this very wonderful question. Sometimes if you don’t see an effect the filler may be injected in the incorrect place such as injecting too deep. Is a plastic surgeon doing your injections? Other options for lip augmentation are using a silicone lip implant which an be done in the office. In addition, fat grafting can also be done which is more permanent.

Please consult with a board certified plastic surgeon to determine which procedures are best to achieve your goals.

Best wishes!

Actually, I would seek a second consultation. I've never seen disappearance of fillers placed in the lip within two weeks of injection. You may be getting under-filled or your provider is using something that is ineffective. As for permanent solutions, there are a number of options available, including grafts and implants. Best of Luck Dr Harrell
