Congratulations on taking such good care of yourself! As long as you have extra skin that you can grab with your hand, you are a candidate for skin reduction surgery. However, if you are still losing weight, we generally recommend that you be at a “plateau” for at least a few months before undergoing skin reduction surgery. You should also have a preoperative evaluation by an internist to make sure that your nutrition is optimized for wound healing. Good luck!

You are doing fantastic. Consider MWL surgery when your weight has been stable for at least 6 months. ASPS members are experts in this feild of surgery. Find one in your area. Best,

Gary R Culbertson, MD, FACS

Thank you for sharing your excellent question. Most likely after 80 pounds you will be a candidate, just remember it is best to be at your goal weight prior to entertaining any surgery. Best wishes!

If you have excess skin/tissue than you could have it removed. There is no set limit. Most likey, you would be a candidate for tummy tuck but also, arm/breasts. I am President of the American Society of Bariatric Plastic Surgeons and that is my focus and specialty.
