Curious about overall cost

Hello, I am 18 year old female and have triple D breasts with a size 35 band. I've had them since I was young and they have always been this size which has caused issues with my back and overall body in general. I've gone through work out regimens and have been told that they are going to stay this size even when I'm in my best shape. I'm 5'4" and 145 lbs. Can I qualify for a double mastectomy?

Procedure: Breast Reduction

Dear Beaufort: If you have always since ( I believe) your early teen ages, the same size and/or volume in your both breasts, why no opt for a good, nice Breast reduction instead of a mastectomy?, I´m curious . With warmest regards, Jose Luis Valero, MD

Dear

there is not indication for mastectiomy for you and I think reduction mamoplasty is good for you

You have described a condition of bilateral breast hypertrophy. The accepted technique for correction or improvement is a bilateral breast reduction. See a board certified plastic surgeon in consultation. Good luck.

See a board certified plastic surgeon about a breast reduction. This is a seriously wonderful operation. Most women are very happy with the results. Most of the time it is covered by your health insurance. I think you would be very happy with this choice.

Noctum, I practiced in Columbia, SC for 23 years. I now practice in California. I have done a procedure for many of your sisters with very large breasts. The procedure I do is to reduce the size of your breasts to fit your height and weight. It is a breast reduction not a mastectomy. I don't remove all the breasts. You might do well to get down to a D or DD cup. As far as payments, some insurance companies pay for all or part of the procedure. I had tried many time to get the Medicaid offices in SC to pay for the procedure but they would only pay a very small amount. It was not enough to pay for my costs of doing the surgery. There is a very good plastic surgeon in Charleston who might be able to help you. Dr. Peter C. Devito

Thank you for sharing your excellent question. Depending on your desired outcome I would favor a breast reduction procedure for you. Often times covered by insurance, the surgery will reduce your breast size to be more proportional to your frame and improve the discomfort that large, hanging breasts can cause. Hope this helps.
