Post Liver Transplant

Hello, I am curious about a tummy tuck post liver transplant.

I am 3 years post transplant and I've already had my children. The anti rejection medication helped put 50 pounds on me. My stomach is a mess and I'm trying so hard to lose the weight. My question is, is it safe to have a tummy tuck after transplant?

Procedure: Tummy Tuck
Location: Columbus, OH

I've done tummy tucks on transplant patient and the issue is with the old scars. If you live in Columbus, there are good plastic surgeons at OSU who can give you a proper assessment in person.

Thank you for sharing your question. Assuming you receive medical clearance, as well as clearance from your transplant team, you should be a candidate for a tummy tuck. You will require an in-person examination of your tissues, and full review of your medical history, to offer you the best advice.

You would need clearance from your doctors, esp since a TT is a cosmetic procedure and neither you or I would like to compromise your safety.

As other surgeons have said, yes you can be a candidate for a tummy tuck after you get medical clearance and if your scars do not prohibit it. The extra 50 lbs you say you have put on must be discussed. Tummy tuck is not a weight loss technique and not a substitute for diet and exercise. While a tummy tuck can improve the appearance of the "mess" of your abdomen, you should know that it would not fix your weight loss issues.
