Can I use liposuction fat with a breast lift to fill out my breasts instead of using breast implants?
This is definitely an option for some patients.
Yes, but it's important to understand the difference between a breast lift with fat grafting versus using an implant. A breast lift will tighten the shape of the breast, raise the nipple and areola, and remove the fallen, ptotic/sagging skin and tissue. Fat grafting will provide a small amount of size increase, and can help to increase projection. However, no type of breast lift, even with fat grafting, will provide increased fullness of the upper breast. If you want increased fullness to the upper breast, specifically the upper third, the only way to achieve this is with an implant. Look at the side profile of your breast in the mirror while wearing a supporting bra, but NOT a push-up bra. If you are happy with the fullness of your upper breast, you don't need an implant. However, if you desire more upper breast fullness, or like the appearance that a push-up bra provides, then you definitely need to consider an implant. Fat grafting with a lift simply cannot provide those results.
While it is possible to use fat from liposuction for breast augmentation, implants provide a more reliable volume improvement.
Thank you for sharing your excellent question. Yes, liposuction fat can be used to help supplement the shape and size of breast recreated after a breast lift. Depending on your desires, you may require several treatment sessions to do so.
