Scars on face

2 indented scars from a scratch are on my child's cheek, 1 from a year ago the other from 6 months ago. I've tried vitamin e, bio oil, and mederma but they remain indented. She is very young. Will they likely fill out in time or remain permanent? Is there anything at all I can do for her to make a difference now or later? Will silagen or other silicone gels help an atrophic scratch mark at all?

Procedure: Skin rejuvenation and resurfacing
Location: Stuarts Draft, VA

Silage or other gels will not help indented scars. Indented scars usually require skilled excision and plastic surgery closure to significantly improve them. LASER and dermabrasion can be helpful. good luck...

As children grow, their minor scars often improve. If your child is not distressed, I would wait several years before seeking consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon

Children are very sensitive to their parents' feelings, and readily pick up on their concerns. At this point, the best thing you can do is to avoid paying much attention to it. If your child is concerned, he/she will let you know. In the meantime, protect his/her skin from sun exposure with an appropriate sun screen agent. Scars in children take longer to mature than in adults, and scars (in anyone) won't fade as well if exposed to the sun.
