Facial Reconstruction

2012 I had right side of my face reconstructed post melanoma excision...I was thrilled with the repair which affected my eye cheek and jaw...as I have aged by right side is aging and drooping and pulling on my eye ...I feel like I need a redo. Is it even possible to even out my face...I would prefer non surgery ....but willing to listen to all options...and all referrals BTW I'm 58 years old

Procedure: General Reconstruction
Location: Valencia, CA

This is likely due to the absence of connecting ligaments between the mobilized cervicofacial flap to deeper tissues and the pull of gravity over time causing more rapid aging on that side. The treatment is a facelift in order to achieve a symmetric appearance. If you only lift the right side enough to match the left side that will probably be futile.

Thank you for your question. Dr. Monasebian, our Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, will be able to address your concerns. He would have to see you in person to examine your face with respect to form and function. There are possible options available both on a functional and aesthetic end. We would be happy to see you if you are in the New York City area. Medical insurance may help cover the costs of the procedure if deemed medically necessary which can be determined at your consultation. We look forward to meeting you soon.

Regards, Dr. Monasebian and Park Avenue Plastic Surgery.

Thank you for sharing your question and photographs. Most likely this is as a result of continued gravitational changes to the face and the best treatment would be a facelift to address the muscle and skin laxity on both sides. Nonsurgical options will not correct the areas to your satisfaction. Hope this helps.

It is not uncommon to need a revision of a facial reconstruction, because as you age, the two sides of your face will change somewhat differently. Unfortunately, there is no non-surgical, "quick fix". Certainly not anything that would last. So, as others have mentioned, a facelift to address both sides is in order, modified somewhat on the right side to take into account your previous surgery. Regarding non-surgical procedures, a fractional CO2 laser resurfacing would help as an adjunct to the surgery, but by no means a replacement for it.
