Breast skin erosion

I had explant surgery because my breast implant developed an infection. It's been 2 weeks and I noticed that the skin under my breast became dry and looks like the skin eroded or scarred. I will be having a bigger implant put in later but will my skin improve?

Procedure: Breast Implant Revision
Location: Dallas, TX

Yes, it is going to take months to years before the scar is barely visible. Sorry you are experiencing this complication. Infections happen and the best treatment is removal of the implant. It will be several months before a new implant can be placed. The new implant will help the contour irregularity. Good luck and hang in there...

I am not sure why you have such a high scar??

I hope you had the capsule or most of the capsule removed also, because the capsule like any scar can harbor bacteria for a long time.

I would wait at least one year before inserting another implant.

I know there is lots of controversy about my opinion but I feel it is the safest for my patient safety.

Thank you for sharing your question and photographs and I am sorry to hear of your infection. This should improve once your revision procedure is done to cut any scar tissue and the implant size and shape used to stretch out the skin. That said, your incision location appears to be very high on the breast and near the lower areolar border which is a bit strange. Perhaps that's more to do with the photograph than real life?
