Long Term Discomfort From Tummy Tuck

TT in 2013. Still feels so tight internally. Was told non-dissolving stitches used. Don't think surg did lipo as there is still fat pad under bb, there from day 1 post-surg so belly does not appear tight outside at all. Had trbl w/GERD b4 surg but now worse. By nite I have to use elbow sz bandage in area w/pads under to counteract pressure. Numerous rtn visits surg has no comment.

Procedure: Tummy Tuck
Location: chapel hill, NC

Sorry to hear you are having issues. This might not apply to you, but in general some patients gain weight over time. When one gains weight the intra-abdominal fat and therefore mass of the intra-abdominal contents increase. The increased mass increases the intra-abdominal pressure which can make GERD worse. Symptoms of GERD in general do not improve unless appropriate lifestyle changes are made. Liposuction of the skin of the lower abdomen is not customarily performed with a tummy tuck. It is seven years from your surgery. If you are unhappy with the answers that you are getting from your surgeon, it is time to consult with another board certified plastic surgeon. Best wishes.

Thank you for sharing your question. Unfortunately without knowing more about your pain and seeing before and after images with an in-person examination it is difficult to offer advice as pain this far out is certainly not common. I would seek out second opinions.
