Facial Mole Removal on the Nose - Flat Mole

Hello Everyone,

I have a small flat dark mole on my nose that i have had it since childhood. It never changed in color or size (my mother had the small mole at the same spot). I want to get it removed for comestic reasons. I know I'm trading a mole for a scar. What is the best option: Laser, Shave Removal or Skin Excision and why?

Procedure: Cosmetic Surgery
Location: parlin, NJ

Thank you for your question. Dr. Monasebian, our Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, will be able to address your concerns. He would have to see you in person to examine the skin lesion and all options can be discussed. We would be happy to see you if you are in the New York City area. Medical insurance may help cover the costs of the procedure if deemed medically necessary which can be determined at your consultation. We look forward to meeting you soon.

Regards, Dr. Monasebian and Park Avenue Plastic Surgery.

Hi Satyai,

Based on the photo you provided, I think this would best be treated with a shave since it is quite superficial. I would send the specimen to pathology to be certain there are no concerning features before discarding it. I wish you the best.

It looks like you have a benign Nevus (mole) on your nose. Excision is a relatively straight forward procedure. I do it under local anesthesia in my private surgical facility. After excision of the mole I would close the defect with fine nonreactive sutures with the help of magnifying loupes to help ensure the best possible outcome. See a board certified plastic surgeon in consultation. Thank you for your question. Stay safe and good luck...
