Puffiness on cheek bone from old injury

I hit my face on concrete about a year ago while giving someone a piggy back ride. I hit my R cheekbone, chin and teeth. Traumatic and stupid. Anyways, a year later everything is heard and my teeth are repaired, but my right cheek is slightly puffier than the other side and I’ve tried lymphatic drainage, compresses and topical treatments. In the photo it’s the side on the left. Any suggestions?

Hi there! It's hard to know on the photos how much is temporary swelling, versus your new normal, versus pre-existing asymmetry that simply went unnoticed until after the trauma. If it's an issue of swelling, it sounds like you tried some great measures. One treatment you could consider at this point is enhancing symmetry with fillers. Fillers can smooth the transition from the cheekbone to the cheek next to it, and can enhance the smaller side in a way to match the opposite side, and help match the contours overall. An important point when considering fillers, is finding a surgeon whose aesthetic you like, because the results are completely operator dependent. The same fillers given to different surgeons can yield dramatically different results. The choice of filler, how much is injected, where and how it is injected, and the goal result, will vary surgeon to surgeon. The best way to get a sense of the surgeon's aesthetic taste is to look at before and afters.

Mr. Ryan,

Treatment options, if any, should be based on a correct diagnosis. You should have a work-up with a consultation and probably CT scan if that has not been done already.
