Which procedure?

I have sagging breasts and am looking into having a breast lift. I also have alot of extra skin. Does this make a difference in what kind of procedure I will need? I am hoping for a youthful profile or side view. I am a 36DD now, but alot may be due to the extra skin

This is an excellent question. Many women looking for a breast lift have extra skin. A breast lift can address that issue to give you the profile you desire. Depending on the amount of skin, the shape of your breasts, and the outcome you desire, there are many options. Some women with flattened upper poled can benefit from an auto-augmentation mastopexy. This procedure can reposition breast fullness to the upper pole for a more youthful profile. In some cases, women may elect to have an implant if they want additional fullness.

Breast lift patients are some of the happiest [post-operative patients I see. Look at many before and after images to be sure you and your plastic surgeon share an aesthetic ideal.

After surgery, V-Beam laser can be used to improve the appearance of scars.

It is difficult to say what would be the best procedure for you without seeing you in person and performing an appropriate examination. If you have a lot of loose skin then you most likely will need some sort of breast lift with a anchor type incision to treat all the loose skin.

Hello and thank you for your question. Breast lift surgery absolutely addresses excess skin and sagging. It sounds like you are a good candidate but will need either a lollipop incision or an anchor type incision to remove the extra skin and achieve the ideal result. This can be discussed in consultation with your board certified plastic surgeon.

Best of luck on your journey!

Thank you for submitting your question - doing your homework ahead of time definitely helps. Breast lift surgery is a great way to restore your youthful look after breastfeeding, weight loss, or the natural aging process. Having an in-person consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area is the best way to determine which incision pattern and technique would be best suited to your individual breast size and shape. Partnering with your surgeon will allow you to develop a surgical plan that is optimized to your goals. Best wishes on a great result and speedy recovery!

Apparently you have bilateral breast hypertrophy and ptosis (sagging breasts). Best procedure is a bilateral breast reduction with lift. See a board certified plastic surgeon in consultation. Good luck.

Dear KDawn13,

Hello and thank you for your excellent question. It sounds as though you may be an excellent candidate for a breast lift. It is best to answer your question during a face-to-face evaluation, when you can discuss your goals and expectations for the procedure, and you can have a physical examination to evaluate for that procedure. I recommend that you find a board-certified, or board-eligible plastic surgeon with whom you are comfortable. Be sure to have all of your questions answered during a face-to-face meeting with your surgeon, and review before and after pictures of similar patients whom have had this procedure. If you have any questions, call our office for assistance. Good luck!
