Do i have to see my primary care physician to get a referral to a hand surgeon or plastic surgeon. I'm pretty sure i have carpal tunnel as well as problem with the ulnar nerve.
Susan, it is always a good idea to see your primary care doctor first. It keeps them in the loop and they will know whom you should see. John
Thank you for sharing your question. This will dependent on the exact insurance plan you have - HMO, PPP, PPO. Talk to your insurance company, they will give you the best advice.
The only thing that makes seeing your primary physician first necessary is your insurance company's requirements. If they do not require it, see a hand surgeon of your choice.
