Insurance Coverage

I have been feeling discomfort (back and shoulders pain) because of my breast for a long time. After my car accident in October 2019, my back pain got worse. I went through physical therapy from October to January 2020. I am wondering if my insurance would cover the cost. I want a professional opinion before going through the process. I cannot afford to get rejected, I really need this surgery.

Procedure: Breast Reduction
Location: Rockville, MD

Thank you for sharing your question. The first step is to check with your insurance plan to ensure that they cover a breast reduction. If they do, obtain the criteria needed to be approved and be sure you have accomplish most of them. At that point seek out a consultation from an ASPS board certified surgeon. Hope this helps.

Hello and thank you for your question. Most insurance companies cover breast reduction surgery but have basic requirements that must be met for pre-authorization. I recommend you check with your insurance carrier regarding those requirements as well as any co-insurance or deductible you may need to pay. A consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon who takes your insurance will be able to assess you as well and help you determine if you are a candidate. Best of luck!
