How popular and do-able is Temporalis Muscle Surgical reduction

I would like to know how popular this surgical request is, I have rather large Temporalis muscles which makes the head appear very wide around the upper region, this has given me depression and anxiety my whole life. I would also like to know what the risks are, along with the time needed post surgery to heal.

Procedure: Cosmetic Surgery
Location: nyc, NY

Good day and thank you for your question. Dr. Monasebian, our Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, will be able to address your concerns. He would have to see you in person to examine your face and the temporalis muscles. There are possible surgical and non surgical options available. We would be happy to see you if you are in the New York City area. Medical insurance may help cover the costs of the procedure if deemed medically necessary which can be determined at your consultation. We look forward to meeting you soon.

Regards, Dr. Monasebian and Park Avenue Plastic Surgery.

Temporalis muscle reduction can be achieved with neurotoxin injections. It is worthwhile trying this first before resection of your muscle. ACT or MRI may help us determine exactly what is causing your temporal bulges. See a board certified ASAPS plastic surgeon in consultation. I have done cadaveric disection and resection [removal} of migraine causing muscles. Good luck...

Temporalis reduction is not a common concern but could be addressed with Botox injections to diminish the size of the muscle. This would certainly be a first step before any consideration of surgical reduction.

Thank you for sharing your question. I would not say the request is popular, but rather than surgery to reduce muscle bulk you may want to consider Botox injections to atrophy the region. These injections are more common for people with TMJ, grinding, clenching issues as well as migraine sufferers. Hope this helps.
