Typically, the first place you gain weight, is the last place that will lose the fat after weight loss. Great job on losing all that weight, and what you are describing with breast size not decreasing after weight loss is not uncommon. You will more than likely benefit from a breast reduction surgery to reduce the weight of breasts and that relieves the pain in upper back/neck/shoulder areas, and is usually covered by insurance. See a local board certified plastic surgeon and they will go over all your options. In my practice, breast reduction patients are the happiest patients after surgery.

I have many patients with a similar story to you. They try to lose weight to see if their breast size will decrease and for some this does work and for some it does not. The breast is made up of no the breast tissue and fat and a lot of this is hormonally based. Each person has a different composition and your breasts may be more dense, with more breast tissue. Therefore, weight loss may not result in smaller breasts. That being said, if you have successfully lost weight and still have pain, you may want to consider a breast reduction. My breast reduction patients are so happy after surgery not only with their breasts but with their improvement in pain.

Thank you for sharing your question. It sounds as if much of your breast is made of glandular tissue, which does not fluctuate much with changes in diet and weight. Most likely surgery will be required in order to permanently reduce the amount of breast tissue, and elevate the remaining into a higher position on your chest. Hope this helps.

Hello. Breast tissue is not only compose of fat cells that, as you know, have the properties of enlarge or shrink with gain or lose of weight. There are other tissues involve as mammary gland and excessive skin. So you will be a good candidate for a Breast Reduction. Undoubtedly big size breast make a lot of changes in the skeletal and muscle part of your body, giving sometimes a lot of pain.
