Flank & Sacrum Puff Liposuction

Hello, I am reaching out because I had liposuction to my flanks and sacrum puff on September 11th. Recovery is going well and I’ve followed my surgeons instructions. However, I stumbled upon “lymphatic drainage massage” as a good recovery tool and I would like to know if this is something beneficial and if I should do it. I’m getting misinformation from massage places. I need guidance please.

Procedure: Liposuction
Location: Huntington Beach, CA

At the Hurwitz Center for Plastic Surgery all patients are offered early post liposuction electrophysiological lymphatic massage called Hyvamat for the first three weeks. If there is persistent obvious swelling then we continue for another three weeks. We are convinced that early swelling is reduced but not necessarily improving the final result. You can start lymphatic massage now but it is unlikely to improve the final result.

Thank you for sharing your question. Lymphatic massages have not been proven to speed healing or improve surgical results. Swelling is a natural and expected by product of liposuction and will resolve spontaneously over the first few months of recovery
