Yes I have a question can I undergo on plastic reconstruction surgery while they do a gastric bypass surgery at the same time or i have to wait certain time frame after my gastric bypass sury
After gastric bypass surgery, you will loose a significant amount of weight. For the safest results, the ASPS recommends waiting at least 18 months after bariatric surgery before having body contouring surgery. This will allow time for your weight to stabilize, ensure that you have good nutrition, and monitor the resolution of any medical conditions. Most bariatric patients enjoy the results of their body contouring procedures so be sure to do your homework and select a board-certified plastic surgeon who is an ASPS member. Best wishes on a great result and speedy recovery.
You would have to wait until your weight-loss has stabilized after your gastric bypass surgery. At that point you can see a plastic surgeon to be evaluated for cosmetic surgery to reduce the skin excess.
Hello and thank you for your excellent question. Based on your description, I think it is wisest for your to wait until your weight has stabilized after your gastric bypass surgery, before you opt to have a plastic surgical procedure. It is best to answer your question during a face-to-face evaluation, when you can discuss your goals and expectations for the procedure, and you can have a physical examination to evaluate for that procedure. I recommend that you find a board-certified, or board-eligible plastic surgeon with whom you are comfortable. Be sure to have all of your questions answered during a face-to-face meeting with your surgeon, and review before and after pictures of similar patients whom have had this procedure. If you have any questions, call our office for assistance. Good luck!
Do not have a panneculectomy at the time of your gastric by-pass. This could increase your peri- operative complication rate & hopefully you will loose allot more weight. This large weight loss could significantly affect the result of your excessive skin removal. Best,

Have the bariatric procedure first. After the weight loss, there will be more skin to remove and you will be able to tighten the muscles as well.
