Hi, my daughter had a rhinoplasty which left her with a pollybeak deformity. The procedure has left her depressed. I don't want to go back to the same doctor and have researched numerous doctors in NY and CT. My question is how to trust another doctor again and what to look for in a revision doctor. I'm scared to pick another doctor because the first was highly recommended .
Revision rhinoplasty is a delicate procedure in a rough terrain. Once a nose is operated on, a second procedure is much more difficult. Vector 3 dimensional imaging may help communicate what can be achieved. It is very important she have realistic goals. Psychiatric care is sometimes more important then plastic surgery. Have her see a qualified psychologist and or psychiatrist. See a board certified ASAPS plastic surgeon with a Vectra machine. Good luck.
Good day and thank you for your questions. Dr. Monasebian, our Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, will answer your questions. He is also trained in Maxillofacial surgery and has worked over 30 years in treating the face and nose. Dr. Monasebian cannot opine or give advice regarding the depression, but can inform you that revisional rhinoplasty, although difficult, is not impossible. Dr. Monasebian would have to see you and examine you to look at your nose. You would most likely benefit from a secondary revision. Of course, this determination can only be made after a full examination. We would be happy to see you if you are in the New York City area. Medical insurance may help cover the costs of the procedure if deemed medically necessary which can be determined at your consultation. We look forward to meeting you soon.
Regards, Dr. Monasebian and Park Avenue Plastic Surgery.
Revision Rhinoplasty also called Secondary Rhinoplasty is a much more difficult procedure than Primary Rhinoplasty. It is very important that you choose a good Rhinoplasty expert. 3D Simulation may help to understand and communicate during the appointment. Before and after photos from practice may also help to understand what can be achieved and where the limits are. Check also if your surgeon is a member of the Rhinoplasty society. I would also recommend not to limit your search to NY or CT only. There are excellent surgeons in other parts of the US with outstanding reputation.
