It is hard to say at what number a surgeon would be proficient at a specific operation. Some surgeons can do one operation all the time and not be very good at it and others can do it a few times and be very good at it. Remember if the surgeon does thousands and thousands of one specific operation then they’re never doing any other operation. A good surgeon does not have to do hundreds of that specific operation to be good at it.

Hello and thank you for your excellent question. It is best to answer your question during a face-to-face evaluation, when you can discuss your goals and expectations for the procedure, and you can have a physical examination to evaluate for that procedure. The number of procedures performed is less important that the quality of work that the surgeon provides, and your personal rapport with him or her. I recommend that you find a board-certified, or board-eligible plastic surgeon with whom you are comfortable. Be sure to have all of your questions answered during a face-to-face meeting with your surgeon, and review before and after pictures of similar patients whom have had this procedure. If you have any questions, call our office for assistance. Good luck!
