I am curious about the best way to get rid of this deep mental crease/dip I have under my bottom lip. I have been considering filler, like Juvederm Voluma, but I am concerned that the 'crease' is too connected (hopefully that makes sense). Below the crease, my chin is pretty pronounced with thick skin. I am so over the deep chin crease and am concerned it's only going to magnify with age | SoFL
Good day and thank you for your questions. Dr. Monasebian, our Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, will answer your questions. He is also trained in Maxillofacial surgery and has worked over 30 years in treating the face. Dr. Monasebian would have to see you and examine you to look at your chin as well as the rest of your face. Your chin aesthetics are a combination of both soft and hard tissues of the chin including the bone, muscle and skin. Changes in these structures can and will affect the chin the the mental crease. Fillers may not be the best choice and are temporary. Of course, this determination can only be made after a full examination. We would be happy to see you if you are in the New York City area. We look forward to meeting you soon.
Regards, Dr. Monasebian and Park Avenue Plastic Surgery.
Hello SunnyB
Your question is related to your chin and lip which involves several structures. It is hard to say for sure without an exam but this type of deep crease is due to the position of your teeth, mentalis muscle and bone of the chin.
In light of that, fillers will not adequately treat the problem. Doing an exam and obtaining X-rays help in determine the proper course of action. I recommend finding a board certified plastic surgeon near you who specializes in jaw surgery to help you with this problem. A consultation can help you and the surgeon decide on the best course of action.
Best wishes

Thank you for sharing your question and photographs. In most cases Volume deep and a thinner filler like Vollure superficially offers the best level of improvement.
