I have been to a few consultations. One surgeon is wanting to do the tummy tuck and breast lift first and then 6 months later do the breast aug. this is different from the other two. Wondering why this would the one provider’s preference.
Many times the procedures are al performed at the same sitting. One reason to delay the augmentation until after the lift has healed and the scars settlled down wound be to avoid placing the scars from the lift under additional tension combined with the tension that results from just doing the lift. The decision is made after evaluation and discussion with your Plastic Surgeon.
In my practice I perform roughly 200 Breast Augmentation and 40 Breast Lift per year. For years I would perform those two together for those that requested it. Recently, the literature has changed and it has been found that the complication rates are higher when those 2 procedures are done at the same time.
For instance, the incisions can open and the patient can lose the implant. So, in the past couple of years I have decided to separate the procedures by a few months.
Thank you for sharing your question. You would have to address this with the surgeon wishing to stage the procedures but oftentimes these can be done at once. If there is a concern about the lift and the implant from a bloodflow or skin viability point of view, staging is the safer path.
