Nipples

Is the augmentation the re-positioning of the nipples or is that the lift?

If the areola are low, then it is part of a lift. This can be performed at the same time as a breast augmentation. I do this all the time.

Thank you for sharing your excellent question. An augmentation only increases your breast volume, a lift allows for repositioning of your nipples. Hope this helps!

A lift, aka mastopexy, repositions the nipple areolar complex, and usually reduces its size (patient dependent). Augmentation simply increases breast volume. Someone with just a very little droop to the nipple may find that augmentation alone corrects the droop.

The augmentation involves placing an implant to enhance the breast size. A mastopexy or breast lift will reposition the nipples and remove some excess skin to tighten up the breast. They can be done separately or together. Best wishes to you!

Dear Sara,

Hello and thank you for your excellent question. The lift is when the nipples and areolae are re-positioned. It is best to answer your question during a face-to-face evaluation, when you can discuss your goals and expectations for the procedure, and you can have a physical examination to evaluate for that procedure. I recommend that you find a board-certified, or board-eligible plastic surgeon with whom you are comfortable. Be sure to have all of your questions answered during a face-to-face meeting with your surgeon, and review before and after pictures of similar patients whom have had this procedure. If you have any questions, call our office for assistance. Good luck!
