Is the augmentation the re-positioning of the nipples or is that the lift?

Great question! Breast augmentation is used to describe the procedure whereby we place an implant behind the breast tissue to help increase size and improve shape/perkiness. Sometimes just putting an implant in alone can change the position of the nipple and make it appear higher. Other times a patient may need a “lift” or mastopexy in order to better reposition the nipple. We can also, if needed, perform both an augmentation and mastopexy at the same time.

Hello and thank you for your excellent question. Typically, the nipple and areola is repositioned during a lift. During an augmentation, only the size of the breast is changed (in general). It is best to answer your question during a face-to-face evaluation, when you can discuss your goals and expectations for the procedure, and you can have a physical examination to evaluate for that procedure. I recommend that you find a board-certified, or board-eligible plastic surgeon with whom you are comfortable. Be sure to have all of your questions answered during a face-to-face meeting with your surgeon, and review before and after pictures of similar patients whom have had this procedure.
