General question

Hi, I have a question regarding the approach to having more than one area of the face and neck worked on. Is it advisable to have one area addressed at a time or have everything done at once? In other words, does work on say, the eyes, have an affect on how the rest of the face would be handled and vice versa?

Procedure: Facelift
Location: Bay Minette, AL

There is no medical reason to do the surgeries in any particular order. The result is no different if the procedures are done separately or together. So, the strategy with which on approaches facial aging has more to do with patient preference.

Some patients prefer to have only one 'downtime' rather than multiple, as well as saving the money for multiple anesthesia charges. Others prefer to do one procedure at a time.

There are a number of factors to consider when chosing to have rejuvenational surgery. Whether having 1 recuperation versus multiple is ceratinly a factor in terms of time off from work / activities. Also the most obvious issue would be do other areas such as the eyelids, forehead or chin warrant treatment or is delaying them more appropriate? There is usually a certain economic benefit in doing multiple treatments at the same sitting but that should not be the decision maker.

The most important issue is what actually concerns the patient. That should be where the focus of attention and treatment is centered. Good luck.

Provided you are cleared medically for surgery. Next to make sure is your surgery is done in an accredited center and your plastic surgeon is a Board Certified plastic Surgeon.

Then it would depend on the surgery time for the combination surgery. In general under general anesthesia surgery preferably not exceed 6 hours.

But you can combine a SMAS facelift with the neck, the upper and lower eyelids and possibly the temporal brow lift.

Rhinoplasty would be a separate surgery.

Make sure to have enough recovery time.

Thank you for sharing your question. Although common to combine procedures some steps need to be done ahead of others so as not to run into problems, for example best to do a brow lift first during surgery before removing any upper eyelid skin to ensure that enough is left behind to allow the patient to close their eye. Hope this helps?
