Rhinoplasty and Accutane

Hello,

I want to know the waiting period between rhinoplasty and accutane. I took 40mg twice a day for six months.

Thank you.

Rubal C.

Procedure: Rhinoplasty

The common rule of thumb is to wait at least 6 months after completing a course of Accutane before embarking on any elective surgery. But check with your plastic surgeon to be sure.

6 months is the recommended time to be off the Accutane before elective surgery.

Dear Rubal,

Hello and thank you for your excellent question. I will ask that patients wait at least 6 months before having a procedure performed, if they have recently used Accutane. It is best to answer your question during a face-to-face evaluation, when you can discuss your goals and expectations for the procedure, and you can have a physical examination to evaluate for that procedure. I recommend that you find a board-certified, or board-eligible plastic surgeon with whom you are comfortable. Be sure to have all of your questions answered during a face-to-face meeting with your surgeon, and review before and after pictures of similar patients whom have had this procedure. If you have any questions, call our office for assistance. Good luck!

Thank you for sharing your excellent question. Rule of thumb for any surgical procedure after Accutane use is 6 months. I hope this helps.
