Blood Clots

Hello

I have had a blood clot in the past. I have an IVC filter. Every time I have had outpatient or inpatient surgery I have been given blood thinners. For outpatient I was sent home with blood thinners to inject for a given period of time. Should I expect this of my plastic surgeon? If so are there oral options. Those needles hurt. Thanks

Procedure: Mommy Makeover
Location: Niskayuna, NY

Yes, you have a very serious issue. Consider getting clearance/ direction from your HEMATOLOGIST! They might be able to guide you through the appropriate peri-operative treatment required in your case and identify the cause of your issue (i.e Factr V Lyden Deficiency??). Make sure to conviey to your surgeon your issues with DVT/ PE. Best,

Blood clots are a serious thing. It seems that any kind of surgery on you carries a significant amount of risk. There are be some oral options but this would need to be discussed in detail by your hematologist and plastic surgeon.
