Repair Swollen Lip

I have a swollen and drooped lip after an accident a couple years ago. Required stitches between nose and upper lip and there is still hard scar tissue in that area. Can anything be done to reduce the swollen lip?

Procedure: Cleft Lip and Palate Repair
Location: Bellevue, WA

Good day and thank you for your questions. Dr. Monasebian, our Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, will answer your questions. He is also trained in Maxillofacial surgery and has worked over 30 years in treating the face. Dr. Monasebian would have to see you and examine you to look at your lips as well as the rest of your face. There are many options available. You may benefit from excision of the involved scar tissue with reconstruction of the lip. We would be happy to see you if you are in the New York City area. We look forward to meeting you soon.

Regards, Dr. Monasebian and Park Avenue Plastic Surgery.

It is not uncommon at all to have some swelling and induration after a lip laceration. This may last for a long time and it may nver dissipate completely. Perhaps a Kenalog injection would help?? Surgery may make the situation even worse perhaps. Your answer it to visit a local American Board of Plastic Surgery certified physician and see what they recommend after your consult.
