Vaping and Breast Reduction

So I have my breast reduction on the 11th, and I know smoking is bad before surgery but didn’t realize it was due to the nicotine. So i’ve been vaping as normal (fairly heavy, i’m 19 and have been vaping 3 years) and just realized earlier today that this could be a big issue. At the time of my surgery, it will have been about 72 hours since I last had nicotine and I intended on not vaping in recov

Procedure: Breast Reduction
Location: Decatur, GA

Plastic surgeons often require patients to stop using nicotine products (smoking, vaping, chew, or nicotine gum) for 3-4 weeks prior to surgery because of the increased risk of complications (infection, dead skin, dead nipples, more scarring, etc. ). You should notify your surgeon immediately that you have been vaping. They may postpone your surgery.

You will be at a higher risk of having nipple-skin loss. How much??? Discuss this with your surgeon and not with someone that does not know anything about your case.

Vaping , can cause skin related problems, like, delayed healing , skin necrosis and bruising . Bleeding intraop and post surgery is also very common. So ideal would be to stop prior to surgery, maybe atleast 3 weeks. In your case since that has not been possible atleast post surgery completely stop and avoid even passive smoking.
