I’m 16 and I have very large breasts I know I’m not done growing but if I got a breast reduction there is a slight chance that they could grow back so can I take some type of hormone suppressor to stop my breast from growing back?
Hormone suppressors have significant side effects. I have had patients younger than 16 have breast reductions as long as their weight and breast size has stabilized. I would suggest waiting until your breasts stop growing and proceed with a breast reduction. If you gain weight in the future you will be more likely to need another breast reduction. Hope that helps! Good luck!
I have no experience with hormonal therapy. But it is better to do the reduction now if they are giving symptoms. They can always be redone later if they get bigger. The problem of not doing surgery may be severe injury to your spine, the spine can bend leading to distortion and a need to do spine surgery for correction. I had to do a Breast reduction for a 12 year old who refused to go to school and was on anti-depressant. Her bra size was 44DDDD. I also had to do a reduction for a young lady whom I first met at age 14 years. Her Bra size was 38I. I could not do her reduction until she turned 17 because she was very depressed and constantly drinking ice chips leading to severe anemia. The surgery was done when her anemia was corrected. I removed over 13lb of Breast Tissues. But her spine is already damaged(severely bent).
If you have a breast reduction now, your results should last years, unless you gain a massive amount of weight. Breasts "growing back" is exceedingly rare. Hormonal therapy or suppression is not indicated. Have the surgery. Make an appointment with a plastic surgeon in your region.
