1 Week Post-Op Rhinoplasty: Is This Concerning? (See Image)

Hi! I am 1 week out from having received my rhinoplasty (8/30) and I got my stitches removed and cast off yesterday (9/5). Tonight (12:30am) I pulled off crusted blood from the inner edge of my nostril (won’t do that again). I went to look at the inside of my nose in the mirror and saw this. Is something falling apart? Should I call my doctor? Please help!

Procedure: Rhinoplasty
Location: Wellesley, MA

Dried blood stuck to the nostril area following rhinoplasty is usually adherent to a stitch. Trying to remove these crusted blood areas is best done with slow application of hydrogen peroxide in the doctor’s office. It is not uncommon for patients to attempt to pick these crusts off. Consult your rhinoplasty surgeon as well as send the photo which clearly shows the area.

That just shows a healing wound and most likely will continue to heal without problems. Any questions you have should be addressed to your surgeon that knows your case the best.
