Implant leak

I’ve had my breast implants for 17 yrs, then finally one started leaking. By getting both replaced, how should the outcome be, meaning looking and feeling new or does it ruin the elasticity somehow, is it possible they can look worse. Is it possible after the new implants are put in that you would need a lift?

Procedure: Breast Augmentation
Location: Tucson, AZ

Having breast implants for 17 years there are many changes to expect in the implants and the breasts, and droopiness of the breast. Leaking silicone implants need to be removed and replaced. Other procedures might be needed based on the physical examination, as well as the realistic expected results.

Kimsue,

There are so many variables in play here that it is impossible to give you a reasonable response. Seek consultation with an American Board of Plastic Surgery certified plastic surgeon for an examination and discussion of your options. Good luck!

Anything and everything is possible. 17 years is a long time and the body and tissues change a lot during that time. A number of people will develop ptosis (drooping) and or capsular contractures during that time. It may make a difference if the implants are saline or silicone. It makes a difference according to what you look like now and what your goals are. You choices are: 1) Stay as you are 2) Remove implants with capsulectomies 3) Remove and replace 4) Remove with mastopexy 5) Remove with replacement and mastopexy. What you need is a consultation with an ABPS certified or eligible plastic surgeon close to your home to find out what is best for you according to what you want.
