I am looking into getting a breast augmentation and have seen that some doctors offer the 24 hour rapid recovery. Is this legit? And if it is, how come everybody doesn’t do it?
Hi. The rapid recovery or 24 hour recovery protocols are used by many surgeons as long as the procedure specifics allow for it (combination procedures may change the protocol). It does work. I use the same protocols that many surgeons use. Some advertise it more than others as a mechanism of marketing. Im sure if you brought it up with a surgeon you feel comfortable with they can advise you with similar rapid recovery protocols. Rapid recovery uses combinations of local anesthetics, muscle relaxants, early warm showers, early range of motion and anti-inflammatory medications to have you back to your regular activities as soon as possible. Hope this helps.
That is insane! Your recovery is dictated by tissue healing. Any thing said otherwise is a marketing gimmick. If you mean how can I speed recovery, get a small implant but don’t be fooled.
I agree with Dr. Lintner. If the implant is placed under the pectoralis muscle (which is where it belongs, in my opinion) you can expect to be quite sore for a few days, depending on the degree of augmentation.
Dear bwt,
Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols are indeed legitimate and most everyone employs them, or significant components of them. Some surgeons will promote them as a marketing tool. Good luck!
A rapid recovery is what every plastic surgeon and patient wants. Different surgeons have different ways of doing things and they have their reasons. Just find an ABPS certified or eligible surgeon close to you and follow their advice.
Every surgery need down time and recovery period. Now a day breast augmentation surgery technique is less down time and you can go back to your home no need to admid in the hospital or only 24 hr. admission then I think this is mean a rapid recovery in 24 hr that you mention.
