Is this asymmetry normal or should I be concerned?

Noticed the asymmetry right after surgery & was told that they would even out. 5 weeks post op & absolutely no improvement. The left breast is a different shape, sitting a cm lower than the right & the nipple is higher. I was told that it's "normal" and to not expect "twins" and to wait longer for them to even out. Not sure if I need a second opinion. Incision still in crease rules out bottoming?

Procedure: Breast Augmentation
Location: Dallas, TX

You have a good early result. No obvious issues. . It’s too soon to tell what the final outcome will be. Also, you were more asymmetric preop. Your surgeon had to deal with that in placing implants and I think he/she did a good job. Talk to your doctor about your concerns.

Are the two implants the same size? Pre-operatively, the left inframammary fold looks a little lower than the right. It can take Several months for the final result. No woman has two perfectly symmetrical breasts, and it is human nature that we are ore critical after surgery.

Your left breast is bottoming out. There is also some difference in the size of the left and right breast, may improve with different sizes of implants.

As for the bottoming of the left breast, will need revision to stabilize the infra-mammary fold in the proper position. May get worse with time if not corrected.

You are going to get different opinions up to a point from different surgeons. Fact is that you had some asymmetry preop as all people have and there will always be some asymmetry postop. So far your result looks very good. The pockets sometimes enlarge and sometimes close postop. This is always a possible problem. You left side seems to perhaps be opening a little inferiorly. If it stays like this then it is not worth doing anything else about it as it looks good. With time this may change and if it is a problem then it may require a small revision. For now it is best to wait until your final outcome. Meanwhile stay in touch with your surgeon and let them know your concerns. Ask if they think the use of an underwire bra may help.
