How can I reduce facial redness and improve the quality of my skin?

I had acne on my cheeks when I was in my teens (10 years ago). Although my acne cleared up, the skin on my cheeks is still red, and the skin is of poor quality. I have attached a picture for clarity. What is causing the redness and poor skin? How can I reduce the redness and improve the quality of my skin? Thanks in advance!

Procedure: Skin rejuvenation and resurfacing
Location: los angeles, CA

Hello. It looks like rosacea. Get a consultation with your dermatologist to get the best approach for your skin.

For problems with skin redness, topical treatments for rosacea or acne may help. Procedures such as broken capillaries or ruddy pigment, lasers like the Pulsed Dye or Nd: YAG work best by using light energy to home in red areas on the face and body. When using a laser, a doctor does one pass, or several, over sections with persistent redness. The wavelength recognizes only high concentrations of pigment in the visible capillaries. Once heated, those vessels shrivel and disappear. In most cases, one to two laser sessions spaced over four to six weeks are necessary to reach complete clearance. Postprocedure, skin may be slightly irritated for a few days.
