Breast Asymmetry

Hello, I need prof input on my case. One breast is 2 times bigger than the other one, also the bigger breast is saggier. I am 27 and I don't want to do breast reduction as I've researched it is not so healthy. One of the surgeons recommended removing some skin between the nipple and the rest of the boob to sort of squeeze it and make the bigger breast smaller and put an implant in the small one.

Procedure: Breast Augmentation
Location: Tbilisi - Georgia

I don't know where you are getting your information about breast reductions. That is not correct. Breast reduction is a good operation that helps a large number of women and is one of the operations with the highest level of satisfaction in plastic surgery.

You can make the smaller side bigger, make the bigger side smaller, or a little of both. Removing a little skin on the larger side isn't going to do much. Expect that you will need to do something else in the future regardless of what you do now.

Breast reduction is completely healthy. As a matter of fact, a breast reduction decreases your chance of breast cancer, and also relieves back, neck, and shoulder pain, helps with shoulder grooving and rashes underneath the breasts, reduces areola size, gives you a breast lift, and helps with asymmetry. It would be a good procedure for you. If you opt for the implant route, you will certainly need at least one or two more revisions in your life. Please meet with a board-certified plastic surgeon for your information and not social media, word-of-mouth, or the internet.

Dear Ana,

According to the ASPS statistics over 100,000 breast reductions were performed in the US alone in 2020. The procedure is common. It is safe. There are risks of course, as there are with any surgery. The options for correcting your breast asymmetry may be several, but please do not rule out reduction of the larger breast based on internet research. Good luck!

Your information is wrong. There are many ways to improve on breast asymmetry. From what your are describing it is apparent to me that you either did not understand the surgeon that you saw or that you are not able to describe it well. My advice is to go back to the surgeon and have them explain to you again and if you do not understand again it is to seek another opinion from another ABPS certified or eligible physician close to your home.
