Jaw surgery/chin implant?

Hi, I'm a 38 y/o male. I have an overbite. I went to a dentist for an evaluation and they said braces could correct the teeth overbite by 2-4mm. However, it seems to fully correct the overbite some sort of surgery would be needed. Could you recommend anything please? I have attached 2 sets of photos, one with my jaw rested showing the overbite and one with my tongue between my teeth (no overbite)

Procedure: Chin Surgery
Location: Philadelphia, PA

Hello, without doing a formal exam and looking at your teeth it is hard to tell what type of surgery would be ideal in your case. Abnormal occlusions that are not fully corrected with orthodontia or braces could require either a single or double jaw surgery. I'd recommend following up with a oral maxillofacial surgeon or craniofacial specialist who do jaw surgery. With a formal consultation they can give you the different options that would be best for your specific case.

Sincerely,

Over bite requires a significant examination and Facial X-rays.Then can advise what surgery or teeth braces cn do to improve.

See a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon with cranio-facial training to evaluate your condition .

Good morning and thank you for your question. You may very well be a candidate for orthognathic surgery (jaw alignment surgery). Without seeing you personally, and examining you and your x-rays, it is difficult to say what is required. This surgery requires the expertise of an oral-maxillofacial surgeon and orthodontist as well. I would recommend seeing this specialist or if you are in the New York area we are happy to see you too since I am also trained in oral-maxillofacial surgery.

Sincerely,

Your pictures look just fine to me. What you need is an in person consultation with an orthodontist, oral surgeon and plastic surgeon close to where you live. YOu may need some x rays. Find out what they recommend and decide what is best for you.

From only your given photos can't tell the exactly problem and procedures but for abnormal occlusions need full craniofacial and teeth examination with x-ray or CT-scan. For the breifly procedure you may require single or double jaw surgery with braces to realignment your teeth back to normal position. Anyway please go to full examine with specialist maxillofacial plastic surgeon for the most suitable treatment option for you is better.
