The ideal time for a breast reduction is once the breasts have stopped growing, usually between 16 and 18. There is a condition known as Juvenile Virginal Hypertrophy in which the breast demonstrate rapid growth at a much earlier age. In these patients a breast reduction is recommended regardless of age due to the psychological and musculoskeletal issues that can arise.

Yes, I have performed a breast reduction in teens for problems with very large breasts can be severe. You do need to have your parents consent, have a significant real problem.

Hello, the cost of a breast reduction in my area. is around $9,000 including surgery, anesthesia, facility fee and pathology.

It is possible to do a breast reduction at age 15, though usually we wait until age 18. I have done as young as 14 in cases where it was appropriate and the parents of course will need to be involved. I am glad you are asking questions. Please set up a consultation in your area with your parent/ guardian to explore your options. When you do have it done, it will change your life!

Hello and thank you for your excellent question. Provided that you have reached your adult breast size and weight, you may currently be a candidate for a breast reduction. It is best to answer your question during a face-to-face evaluation, when you can discuss your goals and expectations for the procedure, and you can have a physical examination to evaluate for that procedure. I recommend that you find a board-certified, or board-eligible plastic surgeon with whom you are comfortable. Be sure to have all of your questions answered during a face-to-face meeting with your surgeon, and review before and after pictures of similar patients whom have had this procedure. If you have any questions, call our office for assistance. Good luck!

Hi!

In my career, I have operated upon breast reductions in patients 15 years old, but my personal opinion is that it would be more indicated in girls al least 17, or 18 years of age, when they are fully grown both physically and emotionally. I have treated ¨virginal¨ or ill-called ¨malignant¨ breast hypertrophy, but slightly over 15 years of age. The clue here is that the volume of the breast is increasing continuously.

Thank you for sharing your excellent question. A 15 year old can have surgery for a breast reduction if suffering with significantly enlarged breasts that are causing her discomfort or emotional stress. This would ideally take place after the breasts have finished maturing but it is possible to do before this. Talk to your parents and schedule a consultation as you will need their permission for surgery. Hope this helps.

Yes, a breast reduction at age 15 as possible, though of course the patient would need to have parental consent. I only do breast reductions in patients this young when they have juvenile hypertrophy, in other words, the breasts grow rapidly at a very young age. In that case there are not only self-esteem issues but also possible spine related symptoms that can be averted with breast reduction at a younger age. Please consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area for a formal opinion. Best of luck to you.

Ordinarily we will wait until age 18 to perform a breast reduction. On the other hand if you feel that your breasts have stopped growing you will get tremendous improvement out of having a breast reduction now. It is possible to file this through insurance and get approval, otherwise each plastic surgeon will have their own fees for this procedure. It is best to contact directly. Good luck with your surgery !
