Is it worth it

I want to get one breast reduced to get symmetrical breasts but will weight fluctuation affect the symmetry after the surgery? I’d say I tend to fluctuate between 5-10 pounds

Procedure: Breast Reduction
Location: new jersey, NY

Breasts are made of breast and fat tissues. The more fat in them, the more they are going to shift with weight fluctuations. I would not worry at all with just 5-10 lbs. I don't think that should be enough to cause much difference. Many times something needs to be done to the opposite breast for the best symmetry. Consult your local plastic surgeon.

If your weight fluctuation affects the symmetry, now, it may after surgery as well.

Unilateral breast reduction or breast lift surgery can help restore symmetry to your breasts. It is often necessary to 'tweak' the other side so that the breasts are not only symmetrical volumetrically, but also in shape and nipple/areola size and position. The breasts will change with time and this should be noted in your longterm plans for future surgery.

It is difficult to visualise and comment on asymmetry without a photograph and knowing your age (aging results in more of fatty tissue in breast). But your worries on 5 - 10lbs fluctuation shouldn't matter much
