I have a very thin witch-like nose. I really want to make it smaller and less noticeable. I don't want it to be the main thing people notice about me. Is nose surgery safe? Could something go wrong and make me look even worse?
Rhinoplasty surgery is a very safe procedure. However not all patients are satisfied with the final result. With this in mind, there is about a 10 to 15% revision rate related to rhinoplasty. To help minimize this revision right, a very clear understanding during consultation is essential so that both the patient and the surgeon understand the goals for the procedure. Best of luck.
Hello,
Very valid concern and common with this operation. Rhinoplasty is a delicate and precise operation and in experienced hands, quite successful.
Rhinoplasty is the most challenging procedure in all of cosmetic surgery . Your nose which you describe which is thin and has a droopy tip certainly requires that your plastic surgeon is an expert in rhinoplasty to optimize your result. Of course, rhinoplasty is a safe operation when done by a board certified Plastic surgeon who operates in an accredited operating facility .
For treatment if your nose, that you describe as thin and “witch-like”, It is very likely that improvements can be made by a qualified plastic surgeon. Very often, a thinner nose patient has very thin skin. This makes the cartilage underneath more visible, so sometimes achieving a near perfect result is challenging. Surgery is generally safe, Though even with the most experience of surgeons, there is some chance of needing some touch up work in the future. Meet with a qualified plastic surgeon to discuss your concerns and learn more about the pluses and minuses in person. Computer simulation and photo review can also help. Best wishes.
Dear Anna,
Hello and thank you for your excellent question. It sounds as though you may be a great candidate for a rhinoplasty. It is best to answer your question during a face-to-face evaluation, when you can discuss your goals and expectations for the procedure, and you can have a physical examination to evaluate for that procedure. I recommend that you find a board-certified, or board-eligible plastic surgeon with whom you are comfortable. Be sure to have all of your questions answered during a face-to-face meeting with your surgeon, and review before and after pictures of similar patients whom have had this procedure. If you have any questions, call our office for assistance. Good luck!
Hi. Further evaluation is needed to give you a detailed account of what can be done to improve your nose. I perform Rhinoplasty under IV sedation an local anesthesia reducing the risks of a general one.
The risks or complication. in any plastic surgery, are unfrequent but they should be detailed to you before surgery.
