I had a breast reduction in May 2018 and I am not happy with how it is healing. My breasts are very uneven as my surgeon actually took more fat out of my smaller breast. They sag more now than they did before the surgery. My nipples are two different sizes and don't seem to fit the breast size. The scars look very rough as well. What would you suggest for me in regards to next steps?
Without seeing photographs it is very difficult to comment. It is really best to review your results in person either with your surgeon or with another surgeon for a second opinion. If a revision is considered it should be OK at this point being that you are approximately eight months from your previous procedure
Our goal is to achieve symmetry; however, this result is usually unobtainable. This being said, some patients will benefit from revisional surgery. Asymmetries will fall into 1 of 3 categories: 1)Those that will improve over time (up to a year), 2) Asymmetries that will benefit from revisional surgery (usually delayed until 1 year), or 3) Asymmetries that represent the natural limitations of the patients' anatomy and the limitations of plastic surgery. I recommend that you return to your plastic surgeon and discuss your concerns and possible options. A second opinion from a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon is an option if your concerns are not addressed.
It sounds like you need a revision. I would revisit your original surgeon, discuss each detail you mentioned ( it would be nice to have them take and print a photograph so you can look at it together) and see what he/she can offer to fix it. I would also seek a second opinion for revision. See where you feel more comfortable. Best wishes to you.
Thank you for sharing your question and I am sorry that your current results have not been what you anticipated. I would recommend speaking first to your surgeon to address your major areas of concern and see what remedies may be possible. If the discussion is unsatisfactory, seek out second opinions from other ASPS board certified surgeons who may be able to offer you alternative options at improving upon your current results. Hope this helps.
It sounds like you are generally unhappy with your results and surgeon. The best thing to do would be to discuss this with your surgeon. Also, you could bring your before photos to another surgeon for a second opinion. Achieving symmetry in breast surgery can be tricky and the early results confusing.
Hannah,
For Next Steps consider obtaining a copy of your BR operative report & if possible your Pre-Operative Photo’s. Take these materials to an ASPS member in your area that is familiar with breast reductions for a second or even third option. They should be able to give you your options.
Best,

I think you need a revision by a surgeon specializing in breast reconstuction to give a more accurate opinion about your case.
