Pains after the procedure

Good day

I had a breast reduction surgery on the 19th of April 2023 but I am still experiencing pains on my incisions till this day, is it something I should be worried about or it's part of the healing process ?

Procedure: Breast Reduction
Location: Pretoria, GT - South Africa

It does not mean there is anything wrong. People react to surgery or trauma in many different ways. Breast Reduction is usually not very painful and patients usually take pain meds for 3 or 4 days only. Occasionally there may be someone like you but rarely. You should not take any narcotics at all. Get back to your normal routine and discuss the problem with your surgeon.

It can be normal to have intermittent discomfort due to nerve fibers coming back. I would mention this to your surgeon and have him also check for hypertrophic (thick) scarring which can be painful especially on the side scars underneath. This can be treated easily with steroid injections.

Hi there,

I'm sorry you're still having discomfort. Certainly, the healing process can vary from person to person. Your pains may be part of the healing process, or you could have other problems which need to be addressed. I would recommend bringing these concerns to your board-certified plastic surgeon. In the end, most breast reduction patients are extremely satisfied with their life changing operation. I hope you get there soon as well!

All the best!
